Amanda Stehura

Amanda Stehura is a behavioral health professional with over 12 years of community-based program implementation and development experience across nonprofit, locality driven, and state government entities. She brings a background in mental health, substance use, and harm reduction, with a passion for maternal and child health outcomes, specifically for pregnant and parenting individuals. 

Previously serving as women’s services coordinator for the State of Virginia and regional lead with the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse director, Amanda’s work has focused on the advancement of standardized toolkits for various maternal and youth health populations, such as Plans of Safe Care for pregnant individuals, and a toolkit for child welfare and treatment stakeholders focused on guiding states on the implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act.

Amanda has served as a subject matter expert for the Maternal Mortality Review Team of Virginia alongside the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, highlighting the gaps in maternal health and developing strategic plans for the General Assembly each year. She was also an active co-lead with Eastern Virginia Medical School and SAMHSA with engaging and bringing Virginia the “Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting women with Opioid Use and their Infants” training opportunities. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Amanda held an active role in developing emergency plans for community service boards and working with executive leadership teams in developing needed flexibilities across the behavioral health field. She holds a passion for systems change and the ability to think outside of the box to promote innovative and sustainable change.

In her free time, Amanda can be found chasing her daughters and husband around the house, learning to master the pellet smoker, and planning small weekend family getaways.
