Anna Swanson (FORHP)

Anna Swanson Headshot

Anna Swanson is a Project Officer with the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. She’s had the great privilege of serving Rural Communities Opioid Response Program Implementation, Rural Tribal COVID Response, and the newly-announced Medication-Assisted Treatment Access grant recipients. With the Health Resources and Services Administration for almost four years, she spent the first two with its Office of Planning, Analysis and Evaluation, where Anna worked closely with HRSA’s Behavioral Health Advisor on substance use disorder (SUD) policy.

Anna’s father is a criminal defense attorney, whose clients are put into contact with the legal system for inconsequential drug offenses. Her mother plays an active role at a federally qualified health center, which is equipped to care for those with complex, chronic conditions, such as SUD. She notes that she has many loved ones who are on their recovery journey and has witnessed the essential role that advocates, treatment, and peer recovery supports can play in helping people heal and thrive. Anna’s goal is to effect that same change in rural communities, and she’s grateful that “I get to do that side-by-side with the incredible JBS team.”

When she is not at HRSA, Anna is either at home hanging with her cat, coxing a boat, and/or searching for the latest and greatest plate of chilaquiles that DC has to offer.
