This session provided a summary of the FY 21 Psychostimulant support grant year one findings and tips for ROCRP PS data collection. It provided insights into stigma associated with people who use stimulants and are impacted by stimulants as well as ways to address reducing stigma.

This presentation highlighted The Health Wagon’s Rural Communities Opioid Response program, Strengthening and Expanding Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Programs in Southwest Virginia. The program is a consortium-based implementation that aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD), in rural communities in Southwest Virginia at the highest risk for SUD.

Transportation can be a barrier to health and healthcare in rural communities. The Transportation Technical Assistance Coordination Library (TACL) provides a sustainable methodology and platform for access and findability of rural and tribal transit coordination resources across a diverse range of transportation technical assistance centers and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The Community Transportation Database, developed by the National Center for Mobility Management (NCMM), allows you to use a map to explore state and local transportation providers and their related information.

The CDC report released in September 2022 highlights that more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths were preventable. Among key findings, the report finds that one of the leading underlying causes of pregnancy-related death includes mental health conditions related to substance use disorder.

During this session, the Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) RCORP-Implementation grantees had an opportunity to share best practices, identify the impact that the RCORP grant had in their communities, learned how to use the data collected in the data dashboard, and network with other grantees. In addition, grantees received important information pertaining to evaluation, upcoming deliverables, sustainability and next steps.
