Wish lists for consortiums or coalitions often include words like “effective,” “engaged,” “productive,” “sustainable,” “powerful,” “growing,” and “motivated.”

Learn about sustainability in the grant cycle to maintain successful programs to improve the health of rural Americans. Each community will have different needs to be successful. The RHIhub and Georgia Health Policy Center has framework, strategies, and toolkits for varying programs.

OMNI Institute, in partnership with the JBS RCORP-TA team, created the 2022-2023 RCORP-TA Data Learning Collaborative (LC) for grantees to come together and share knowledge, talk through challenges, and build relationships with one another. This LC will build upon the foundation established in the prior 2022 RCORP-TA Data Learning Collaborative.

As rural communities work to address the opioid epidemic, they face limited service and workforce capacity, stigma, health disparities, and sparse populations. Through the Health Resources and Service Administration’s (HRSA) Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) multi-year initiative, more than $400 million has been invested across more than 1,500 counties within 47 states and two territories since 2018 to address these barriers and assist rural communities in reducing the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD).

This session provided information on program updates and the Year 2 Sustainability template due September 2022.

This session began with a discussion of the timeline, PIMS, sustainability plan, and no cost extensions with the Implementation I cohort. The Implementation II cohort joined the discussion and information was provided on sustaining change in communities.

This packet presents Implementation III grantees with tools and strategies to support implementation activities that expand the options for SUD/OUD services across the care spectrum, thereby helping rural residents in your community to prevent SUD/OUD, access treatment, and move toward recovery. 

In these challenging times, some of our most important problems are intractable. Examples include health inequity, hybrid workplaces, systemic racism, maternal and child health, and a trained and available workforce. In this session, presenters introduced tools to help you lead, even when solutions are beyond your control. They applied those tools to help you recruit and sustain a workforce for tomorrow.

This session provided participants with realistic and achievable steps to help consortiums leverage their RCORP-Planning efforts to achieve long-lasting sustainable impact. Participants heard from two RCORP-Planning III sites that are successfully navigating and securing sustainability for their communities using different approaches.
