Effective prevention includes Design, Development, and Delivery. This session addressed the critical need to follow the science, what the science is, and how the Randolph County Caring Community (RCCC) has Designed, Developed, and Delivered an evidence-based prevention system in their area. Participants learned how the PROSPER (PROmoting School-community-university Partnerships to Enhance Resilience) model has brought additional partners to its consortium, leading to the use of tested and effective prevention programs.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded an evaluation study of post-overdose outreach programs in Massachusetts known as the PRONTO Study. This study group assessed the evidence on post-overdose outreach.

The first part of this presentation examined and presented medical/physiological aspects of SUD and an overview of the impact of SUD on a small but vulnerable population. Dr. Parker then provided an overview of recent substance abuse prevention and intervention applications within American Indian and Alaska Native communities. She described the trends regarding opioid overdose among American Indian and Alaska Native communities during the global pandemic and discussed opportunities for addressing opioid overdose prevention in the future.

This presentation shared the experience of the Lenawee Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition’s evolution and experiences in the HRSA RCORP Planning and Implementation grants resulting in built capacities to implement robust strategic plans in response to Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder within Lenawee County.

The Disparities Impact Statement (DIS) template is a deliverable for this project that you will be required to complete. There was a webinar discussing the DIS for all relevant cohorts on November 15, 2022. This webinar provided RCORP grantees with the tools to complete a disparities impact statement, to support efforts to address populations in rural communities that have historically suffered from poorer health outcomes and health inequities as a part of the prevention, treatment, and recovery of SUD/OUD. This session provided an overview of the challenges facing the rural behavioral health workforce and covered available resources and successful strategies that have been implemented in rural communities to address these challenges, especially in light of the opioid crisis.

In this decision analytical model study evaluating the distribution of 10 000 additional naloxone kits annually in Rhode Island, the strategy focusing on distribution of naloxone according to geographic need to people who inject drugs resulted in the best outcomes at the lowest cost, averting an estimated 25.3% of opioid overdose deaths at an incremental cost of $27 312 per opioid overdose death averted

Whether an opioid overdose death is unintentional or intentional (i.e., suicide), it can be difficult to disentangle. The suffering and hopelessness associated with addiction often lead to indifference to living or dying and to extreme risk taking. In this presentation, examples were described and presented from an opioid-specific suicide prevention training module that is part of the SafeSide Prevention learning program

OMNI Institute, in partnership with the JBS RCORP-TA team, created the 2022-2023 RCORP-TA Data Learning Collaborative (LC) for grantees to come together and share knowledge, talk through challenges, and build relationships with one another. This LC will build upon the foundation established in the prior 2022 RCORP-TA Data Learning Collaborative.
