The Providers Clinical Support System - Medications for Alcohol Use Disorder (PCSS-MAUD) is a national project funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to provide free, comprehensive training, guidance, and mentoring on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of alcohol use disorder.

The latest feature article in The Rural Monitor spotlights a New Mexico doula program that reaches American Indian, Hispanic, and other populations who lack nearby labor/delivery units, a Minnesota program helping moms experiencing incarceration, and a North Dakota program training postpartum doulas to care for families impacted by opioid use disorder and other substance use.

The Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) Mentoring Program support is recommended for clinicians who are contemplating or have recently begun prescribing MOUD and would like additional support. PCSS offers three tiers of service at no cost to the recipient: (1) a discussion forum, (2) the ability to submit a clinical question through the PCSS website, and (3) one-on-one mentoring.

Clinical experts from the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) created the Substance Use Disorder 101 Core Curriculum for Healthcare Professionals. With the addition of two new module topics, the 23 modules in this 2023 curriculum provide an overview of evidence-based practices in the prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions for a variety of populations.

Provides information, tools, and resources on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) to help tribal communities learn about and respond to these ordeals. Includes ACE assessments, contact information for various helplines, examples of interventions, links to journal articles on ACEs and American Indians/Alaska Natives, and more.

As RCORP Grantees continue to build and grow partnerships with Indigenous peoples and communities, further information is needed to support these partnerships through building trust, understanding community dynamics, and recognizing the importance of patient-centered care.

This breakout session provided insights from project leaders on how to respectfully collaborate with Indigenous communities. Furthermore, we shared the ways that the Community Conversations approach empowers individuals across communities to participate in and to lead change; supports recovery; and lays a foundation for current and future generations to live healthier lives.
