The evidence-based interventions will be based on Seeking Safety and Finding Your Best Self models, both of which are present-focused and easily implemented in any treatment setting.

Presenters will discuss how racial inequity, assimilation, risk factors, and historical and immigration trauma have created a landscape where there is a critical need for person centered, culturally respectful and relevant mental health and SUD/OUD supports and service delivery for Latino people. This session provided a general overview of the importance of cultural and linguistic services in behavioral health and evaluate how the CLAS standards can help improve your services.

We began with a critical examination of the history of family separation in the US to lay the groundwork for a discussion of both provider and patient trust and mistrust. The stigma and discrimination that pregnant, postpartum, and parenting people with substance use disorder was explored. We concluded with concrete suggestions to improve provider wellness, child development, and community cohesion.
