This Rural Health Care Chartbook is part of a family of documents and tools that support the National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report (NHQDR). The NHQDR includes annual reports to Congress mandated in the Healthcare Research and Quality Act of 1999 (P.L. 106- 129). These reports provide a comprehensive overview of the quality of healthcare received by the general U.S. population and disparities in care experienced by different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. The reports assess the performance of our health system and identify areas of strength and weakness in the healthcare system along four main axes: access to healthcare, quality of healthcare, disparities in healthcare, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) priority areas. The reports are based on more than 250 measures of quality and disparities covering a broad array of healthcare services and settings. Data are generally available through 2017-2018. The reports are produced with the help of an Interagency Work Group led by AHRQ and submitted on behalf of the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The opioid epidemic is a result of a complex system of varied and interrelated factors. This webinar will introduce a systems thinking approach and tools to address complex public health challenges. The webinar will provide an overview of systems tools and describe opportunities to develop systems further thinking capacity for application to grantees’ local opioid response.

This “Regional Emergency Disaster Response Preparedness Plan for Substance Use Disorder” workshop was designed to provide attendees with information on the importance of developing a plan to support populations with SUD/OUD during a disaster. Attendees heard how community members in rural and small urban communities are working together to ensure services and supports are available to populations with SUD during a disaster.

A collaborative community process to define a town by what it offers the people who live there is the short way to describe the work of placemaking. This digital toolkit from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the University of Kentucky’s Community and Economic Development Initiative includes examples of rural placemaking projects along with technical assistance providers, funders, and guides to resources.

Presenters will discuss how racial inequity, assimilation, risk factors, and historical and immigration trauma have created a landscape where there is a critical need for person centered, culturally respectful and relevant mental health and SUD/OUD supports and service delivery for Latino people. The National CLAS Standards are a set of 15 action steps intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities by providing a blueprint for individuals and health care organizations to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate services. This session provided a general overview of the importance of cultural and linguistic services in behavioral health and evaluate how the CLAS standards can help improve your services.

This LC will build upon the foundation established in the prior 2022 RCORP-TA Data Learning Collaborative.

In this cross-sectional study of 266 Medicaid MCO plans and 39 FFS programs, FFS programs offered more generous MOUD coverage, but a higher percentage of FFS programs imposed PA than MCO plans.
