Integrating Health Promotion for People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) Into Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Services
The workshop will present strategies to integrate HIV, hepatitis, and sexual health concerns into services for PWID. The session will focus on communication skills, assessment techniques, and building motivation among PWID to make healthier choices. The presenter will look at programmatic and clinical-level integration strategies and offer participants an opportunity to assess current service delivery models and develop a plan to enhance care.

Presenters will discuss why leadership is so important during these critical times, the intersections and choices facing leaders, responsive approaches, and engagement strategies for leaders. As states seek new tools to meet the needs of individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid use disorder, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) offer unique resources and examples for developing integrated and cost-effective health care services for complex and chronic conditions. The National Academy for State Health Policy developed this toolkit to share innovations, resources, and lessons learned from five state teams (AL, IL, SD, VA, and WI) that are working to strengthen the capacity of their FQHCs to deliver SUD care
