The National CLAS Standards are intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities by establishing a blueprint for health and health care organizations to:
Principal Standard: Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs.

During this webinar, Claudia Jasso, Chief Development Officer for RCORP Implementation grantee, Amistades, Inc. and Janet Ojeda, JBS International Technical Expert Lead will present an overview of the unique cultural context, core beliefs, and value systems that should be at the heart of understanding and engaging with Latino populations. Presenters will discuss how racial inequity, assimilation, risk factors, and historical and immigration trauma have created a landscape where there is a critical need for person centered, culturally respectful and relevant mental health and SUD/OUD supports and service delivery for Latino people. All RCORP grantees, consortium members, and key community partners are welcome to attend.

Peer providers are viable, evidence based, stand alone or additions to comprehensive teams that approach struggle interventions. Peer providers can be appropriate for any environment that have people with challenges ranging from substance use, gun violence, domestic violence to mental health experiences.
Learning Objectives:
What are the certifications that a peer provider can receive? You will walk away knowing various ways peers can show up in the workplace.
What additional training do peer providers need? Information on what trainings would be helpful for peers to be able to support others well will be provided.
How do we find, support and retain peer providers in the work place? Knowing where to recruit peers, how to keep the workplace well for peer will be knowledge you will leave with.
