JBS’s Robert Childs discussed the key concepts of harm reduction and evidence-based harm reduction interventions that grantees can implement to reduce overdose in their rural communities. Staff from Arkansas Behavioral Health Integration Network shared lessons learned from their RCORP-Planning grant in gaining buy-in for harm reduction concepts and planning for harm reduction services in rural Arkansas.

Participants learned about rural resources for funding, data, program evaluation, and how to effectively grow the visibility of an RCORP project. The panel explored opportunities to engage with State Offices of Rural Health (SORH), discussed SORH’s top ten resources, and outlined the wide variety of TA and efforts of SORH across the region.

This webinar will provide an overview of racial and ethnic minority members of rural communities; describe the relationship between social determinants of health, health disparities, health equity, and rural racial and ethnic minority populations; and propose characteristics for an effective engagement and collaboration plan for working with these populations.
