Data Sharing among Criminal Justice & Behavioral Health Partners: Addressing Data Sharing Agreements & Confidentiality Concerns Webinar Resources

Adults with mental and/or substance use disorders are over represented at every stage of the criminal justice continuum. In response, many jurisdictions have developed and implemented institutional, residential, and community based policies and programs that depend on collaboration across the criminal justice and mental health and substance use treatment systems, necessitating varying levels of data and information sharing. While such cross-systems communication offers the potential to improve inter-agency efforts and the identification of effective interventions, there are several legal and information-security issues that should be considered when formalizing a relationship to share data.
