Resources and support is available for individuals struggling with alcohol use. A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine organized and conducted a two-day virtual public workshop that brought together data experts, program implementers and evaluators, and other key interested parties to explore data collection efforts, evidence gaps, and research needs on harm reduction for people who use drugs (PWUD).

Clinical experts from the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) created the Substance Use Disorder 101 Core Curriculum for Healthcare Professionals. With the addition of two new module topics, the 23 modules in this 2023 curriculum provide an overview of evidence-based practices in the prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions for a variety of populations.
