April is Alcohol Awareness Month. This month offers a time to raise awareness and understanding of alcohol use and misuse. Resources and support is available for individuals struggling with alcohol use. In addition, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides a social media toolkit for communities to utilize.

This session outlined how the Communities of Practice for Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (COP-RCORP) Consortium created a Disparities Impact Statement (DIS) that encompassed four Ohio counties (Ashtabula, Fairfield, Sandusky, and Seneca) and three HRSA grants (two RCORP-Psychostimulant grants and one RCORP-Behavioral Health Support grant).

The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Cohort I tip sheet is a result of collaborative efforts of the NAS Cohort I grant recipients. Drawing on the insights and experiences of our grantees, we identified 9 key recommendations. These tips serve not only as a guiding framework for future NAS cohort grantees but also offers valuable guidance to all RCORP grant cohorts. This resource aims to enhance effectiveness and increase the impact of all RCORP grantee initiatives.

This workshop defined SDOH and discuss how they contributed to successful community engagement in rural communities. A new article in RHIhub's The Rural Monitor describes the community's understanding of Native culture in Gallup, New Mexico to take an effective, holistic community-wide approach to recovery of SUD. The article highlights a community-wide consortium that works hard to tackle the issue of alcohol and substance use disorders through withdrawal management, peer counseling, assisting with housing, and other services.
