Participants learned about rural resources for funding, data, program evaluation, and how to effectively grow the visibility of an RCORP project. The panel explored opportunities to engage with State Offices of Rural Health (SORH), discussed SORH’s top ten resources, and outlined the wide variety of TA and efforts of SORH across the region.

Effective Leadership for Community Consortiums
Presenters will discuss why leadership is so important during these critical times, the intersections and choices facing leaders, responsive approaches, and engagement strategies for leaders. They will also provide strategies for consortium engagement based on the work of a Colorado Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) grantee.

Joined this panel of former RCORP-Planning grantees as they shared their lessons learned and how they hit the ground running as they completed Planning and embarked on Implementation. Heard from panelists who received Implementation funding as well as those who were able to move forward without dedicated Implementation funding.

Providers are essential partners in care and have a very important role in reducing the various types of stigmas experienced by those with or recovering from substance use disorder (SUD) and their families; becoming an ally is the first step. Allyship includes a set of beliefs, attitudes, and actions; we will explore a variety of steps that can lead to greater empathy and better outcomes for clients, families, and communities.

This session covered how primary prevention efforts fit within each of the various stages of the Continuum of Care Model. Attendees learned how to (1) engage community stakeholders from each of the 12 sectors and (2) evidence-based practices to not only inform, but to reduce stigma and to create open dialogue as it relates to SUD.
