n December 2022, Congress eliminated the DATA-Waiver program registration allowing providers to prescribe buprenorphine to treat patients for OUD. The University of Vermont Center on Rural Addiction, a HRSA Rural Center of Excellence on Substance Use Disorders, offers an incentive to help defray previous training costs of $750 to each qualifying provider who obtained a DATA-Waiver. To qualify, providers must be practicing in a HRSA-designated rural county in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, or Northern New York.

The Recovery-Ready Workplace Toolkit: Guidance and Resources for Private and Public Sector Employers was created through the efforts of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Domestic Policy Council, and 12 federal departments and independent agencies. It is designed to help businesses and other employers prevent and respond more effectively to substance misuse among employees, build their workforces through hiring of people in recovery, and develop a recovery-supportive culture.

Substance use is a major health issue among individuals in custody, and for these individuals, withdrawal from substances can be life-threatening. Jurisdictions have a pressing responsibility to save lives by implementing policies and protocol that align with legal, regulatory, and clinical standards related to appropriate withdrawal management. Recently released Guidelines for Managing Substance Withdrawal in Jails sets forth best clinical practices and actionable guidance for jails. This presentation discussed readiness for implementation, key components of implementation, and solutions for implementation in local communities and jails.

The North Carolina Emergency Department (ED) Peer Support Program enables participating North Carolina hospitals to embed certified peer support specialists in their emergency departments to connect patients presenting with opioid overdose to treatment, recovery, resources and harm reduction supports. This guide is a tool for introducing an ED peer support program in a hospital setting.

This study looks at perinatal care for pregnant people with substance use disorders. Stigma and lack of access to treatment and recovery increases the risk for pregnant people. Results and suggestions from the study include the need to expand OUD treatment training, clarification on child welfare reporting rules, the need to include philanthropic investment, and more.
