HealtHIE Georgia Corporation
Project Summary
HealtHIE Georgia, a nonprofit agency working to support rural healthcare provider clinical integration and network infrastructure, is leading a Consortium dedicated to improving access to and quality of SUD and other behavioral healthcare services in rural South Georgia. Together, HealtHIE Georgia Corporation, Behavioral Health Services of South Georgia, and Irwin County Hospital have a long history of collaboration to improve healthcare services across eight rural and underserved counties that are Healthcare Professional Shortage Areas and Medically Underserved Areas. To expand the reach and capacity of this Consortium, Cook County Board of Education, Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office, Irwin County Sheriff's Office, Berrien County Sheriff's Office, and Cook County Sheriff's Office have been added as new members. Together, this Consortium will leverage outreach, training, education, prevention, care coordination, and telehealth to serve a population of rural Georgia. RCORP activities will strengthen South Georgia's capacity to identify and address SUD/OUD and co-occurring mental illness in rural communities, leveraging enhanced partnerships and multiple tiers of training to sustainably expand awareness and access in these overlooked and underserved regions.
