The University of Rochester, a RCORP-Rural Center of Excellence on SUD Prevention, has 988 Lifeline posters available for download on their website. The national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline was launched in July 2023 and provides a way for individuals experiencing a suicidal, mental health, or substance use disorder crisis to receive urgent help 24/7. Spreading awareness of the 988 Lifeline is important as it can help residents in rural areas obtain treatment and help quickly.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) want greater awareness of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and their connection to high rates of overdose and suicide. This week they announced a new training webpage, UrgentRelatedPreventable.org, designed in collaboration with the American Public Health Association to provide background and talking points. The site explains how exposure to certain events and conditions in childhood have lasting effects on health, well-being, and prosperity far into adulthood. The 2020 National Drug Threat Assessment (NDTA) is a comprehensive assessment of the threat posed to the United States by the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs, the diversion and abuse of licit drugs, and the laundering of proceeds generated through illicit drug sales. It also addresses the role domestic groups, including organized violent gangs, serve in domestic drug trafficking. The most widely trafficked drugs are discussed in terms of their availability, consumption and overdose related deaths, production and cultivation, transportation, and distribution.
