The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists established the PMP Subcommittee to provide a platform for information exchange and addressing the need for a standardized metrics for opioid surveillance using PMP data. PMP group members identified a need to provide guidance for new PMP data users. Group members collaborated to write and develop a very comprehensive two-part How To Guide that provides instructions for new PMP data users.

This program brief highlights the Alliance for Prevention and Wellness (APW) use of Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP) data to target a broad range of substance use prevention and education activities to ZIP codes with the highest rate of overdoses. This presentation highlighted The Health Wagon’s Rural Communities Opioid Response program, Strengthening and Expanding Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Programs in Southwest Virginia. The program is a consortium-based implementation that aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD), in rural communities in Southwest Virginia at the highest risk for SUD.
