There are multiple systems that can help individuals to address substance use disorder (SUD). A new report from the Addiction and Public Policy Initiative of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law Center discusses how these multiple systems are often disjointed which creates barriers for those needing to access services for SUD.

Like all professions, the addictions treatment field is faced with the challenges of employee substance use and abuse and their impact on retention of quality staff. Because the addictions field employees a disproportionate number of individuals – by recent estimates close to half of the treatment workforce – in recovery, the field faces particular retention challenges. The Guide also has a companion supplement, a listing of promising practices, included.
