The Housing Assistance Council's new Rural Resource Guide: Affordable Housing and Recovery in Rural Communities is an effort towards assisting local rural organizations with proper resources. While many across the U.S. are facing substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid misuse, housing is essential to addressing the epidemic. The guide is meant as a resource to housing practitioners looking to help provide homes to individuals affected by SUD.

More than 600 people registered and 300 attended an information session on Thursday, June 30, 2022 about first-of-its kind funding to address rural homelessness from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This digital toolkit from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the University of Kentucky’s Community and Economic Development Initiative includes examples of rural placemaking projects along with technical assistance providers, funders, and guides to resources.

The latest feature article in The Rural Monitor spotlights a New Mexico doula program that reaches American Indian, Hispanic, and other populations who lack nearby labor/delivery units, a Minnesota program helping moms experiencing incarceration, and a North Dakota program training postpartum doulas to care for families impacted by opioid use disorder and other substance use.

AgriSafe is a national non profit that offers occupational health and safety training for rural health professionals. Currently AgriSafe in partnership with Mississippi State University Extension and University of Mississippi Medical Center are offering Continuing Health Professional Education through four webinars listed below. One hour of continuing education is available for each webinar.
This continuing education opportunity is free to licensed health care providers in the state of Mississippi. For health care providers outside of Mississippi, the continuing education is available for $40 per CE hour.

Each of the toolkit's six modules contains information that communities can apply to develop a rural health program, regardless of the specific health topic the program addresses. The toolkit also links to issue-specific toolkits for more in-depth information.
