Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) created this directory based on information obtained from state certification boards for alcohol and substance use professionals, state mental health and substance use disorder authorities, sources identified by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC), local and statewide recovery community organizations, and the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors. The information sources for each state are noted. All italicized text is a direct quote from the source noted. The information in this directory was current as of June 24, 2020.

The information in this document was guided by the vision of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health and lessons learned from a 3-year reentry enhancement project conducted across 3 different reentry organizations. The participating pilot sites were the Resonance Center for Women, Inc., the College and Community Fellowship, and the Institute for Health and Recovery . Using the information compiled through this project, this guide was created by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s GAINS Center for Behavioral Health and Justice Transformation.

Researchers looked at records for 917 patients who engaged with a peer recovery coach via telehealth after discharge from emergency departments for opioid use. The investigation focused on one Indiana-based hospital system that included six hospitals located in cities and seven that had rural Critical Access Hospital designations.
