The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Cohort I tip sheet is a result of collaborative efforts of the NAS Cohort I grant recipients. Drawing on the insights and experiences of our grantees, we identified 9 key recommendations. These tips serve not only as a guiding framework for future NAS cohort grantees but also offers valuable guidance to all RCORP grant cohorts. This resource aims to enhance effectiveness and increase the impact of all RCORP grantee initiatives.

Researchers used claims and enrollment data from Tennessee’s Medicaid program to develop an algorithm measuring five types of ACEs: maltreatment and peer violence, foster care and family disruption, maternal mental illness, maternal substance use disorder, and abuse of the mother. Recent recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health & Human Services included stronger data collection that analyzes rural-urban differences.

A collaborative community process to define a town by what it offers the people who live there is the short way to describe the work of placemaking. This digital toolkit from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the University of Kentucky’s Community and Economic Development Initiative includes examples of rural placemaking projects along with technical assistance providers, funders, and guides to resources.
