This presentation covered recovery housing and MOUD in the context of issues emerging in rural America resulting from the pandemic and its impact on the rates of SUD and drug overdose. Also, presenters discussed the impact of the pandemic on corrections and the actions of states in response to COVID as it affects those with SUD. Presenters gave an overview of how recovery housing in this context can be developed especially in rural areas.

Recovery Housing, Medications for OUD (MOUD), and Emerging Issues
Presenters will explain recovery housing and MOUD in the context of issues emerging in rural America resulting from the pandemic and its impact on the rates of substance use disorder (SUD) and drug overdose. They will discuss the impact of the pandemic on the correctional system and state actions in response to COVID-19 as it affects those with SUD. They will also give an overview of how recovery housing can be developed, especially in rural areas.

Building on Part I of the stigma webinar series and its introduction of a statewide collective impact model for addressing stigma, this webinar delivered the first part of the model that also served as its conceptual framework. This webinar introduced the stages of change and showed grantees how these apply to their target populations. We also discussed how those same principles applied to grantee engagement of community stakeholders and their openness to evidence-based practices that reduce morbidity and mortality related to SUD/OUD.

This Technical Briefing provides a description of Peer-to-Peer Distribution of Naloxone (P2PN). This is based on six case studies of pioneers of P2PN; three from the UK and three international examples that inform the guidance in this Technical Briefing. This document will inform and be extended following a pilot of P2PN in four sites in England in 2019. These will be supported by small grants from EuroNPUD. The learning from this pilot will help test the model and peer education approach promoted in this briefing.

Two reports are now available from Fors Marsh, a research and communications firm who's reports work to highlight system problems like SUD. The "Road Map for Advancing a Recovery-Ready Nation" report examines recovery research and covers issues such as support services, housing, employment, workforce, stigma, etc. The "2022 Workplace Recovery Survey Report" covers background and understanding recovery in the workplace, policies, culture, experiences, and much more.
