Researchers assessed whether there was a connection between buprenorphine dose and time to treatment discontinuation when fentanyl is prevalent. The results showed that a 24mg dose of buprenorphine remained in treatment longer than those prescribed 16mg. Therefore, higher buprenorphine doses could be considered to help improve treatment retention.

In addition, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides a social media toolkit for communities to utilize.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) published Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Opioid Use Disorder and Their Infants in 2018. The National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW) developed companion materials that offer information and strategies to support pregnant and parenting people with substance use disorders (SUDs) in the child welfare system.

September 2023 is National Recovery Month and HRSA’s Office of Women’s Health has a toolkit to support organizations and health care providers that care for women living with opioid use disorder (OUD).
