This webinar will provide an overview of COVID-19 impacts and vaccination attitudes among SUD populations in Vermont including people who use drugs, patients receiving MAT, and people in recovery. It will outline the methods undertaken to conduct a community-based survey. It will discuss the barriers and opportunities that arose from analysis of the survey and a subsequent consortium workshop.

Recovery Housing, Medications for OUD (MOUD), and Emerging Issues
Presenters will explain recovery housing and MOUD in the context of issues emerging in rural America resulting from the pandemic and its impact on the rates of substance use disorder (SUD) and drug overdose. They will discuss the impact of the pandemic on the correctional system and state actions in response to COVID-19 as it affects those with SUD. They will also give an overview of how recovery housing can be developed, especially in rural areas.

The 2020 National Drug Threat Assessment (NDTA) is a comprehensive assessment of the threat posed to the United States by the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs, the diversion and abuse of licit drugs, and the laundering of proceeds generated through illicit drug sales. It also addresses the role domestic groups, including organized violent gangs, serve in domestic drug trafficking. The most widely trafficked drugs are discussed in terms of their availability, consumption and overdose related deaths, production and cultivation, transportation, and distribution.

The current study examined the accuracy of sensory discernment strategies by measuring study participants’ descriptions of the last opioid injected and checked with a fentanyl test strip (FTS) by that test's positive/negative result. The primary objective was to determine associations between FTS results and descriptions of the illi it opioid's physical appearance and physiological effects.

The Townhall TeleECHO presentation will introduce a monthly interactive opportunity for clinicians and their support staff to address challenges and share solutions and successes to gain confidence in addressing OUD with MOUD. The Behavioral Health Data Learning Collaborative presentation will introduce goals of understanding data and data sharing, use of indicators and data sources, and data driven programming and quality improvement. This presentation discussed the evolution of North Carolina’s formerly siloed sectors: prevention, treatment, & recovery. The introduction of Recovery Community Center (RCC) funding helped to develop a network of community-based recovery support services. However, when one of NC’s strongest prevention coalitions received RCC funding, they took it to another level. Keeping strongly rooted in its prevention identity, they expanded their growth into authentic recovery support services and non-arrest diversion partnerships with local law enforcement and treatment providers. Implementation II grantee Wilson Substance Prevention Coalition illustrated some of its full continuum of care programming and how it has adapted to the pandemic’s challenges
