This presentation discussed the evolution of North Carolina’s formerly siloed sectors: prevention, treatment, & recovery. The introduction of Recovery Community Center (RCC) funding helped to develop a network of community-based recovery support services. However, when one of NC’s strongest prevention coalitions received RCC funding, they took it to another level. Keeping strongly rooted in its prevention identity, they expanded their growth into authentic recovery support services and non-arrest diversion partnerships with local law enforcement and treatment providers. The MOUD Best Practices Webinar series takes a person-centered, outcomes-focused approach to presenting and discussing best practices in the use of medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), starting with client engagement and initiation of MOUD, patient stabilization and retention in MOUD, and supporting recovery during MOUD. The focus of each presentation in the series will be on the application of best practices to meet your community’s goals for each of the three topic areas, including adapting them to your local resources while maintaining fidelity to their evidence base.
At the conclusion of Session 1, participants will be able to: describe specific best practices related to engagement and initiation of MOUD, connect best practices to the community’s outcomes and goals and adapt best practices to local needs and resources while maintaining fidelity to the evidence base.
