April is Alcohol Awareness Month. This month offers a time to raise awareness and understanding of alcohol use and misuse. Resources and support is available for individuals struggling with alcohol use. In addition, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides a social media toolkit for communities to utilize.

The Providers Clinical Support System - Medications for Alcohol Use Disorder (PCSS-MAUD) is a national project funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to provide free, comprehensive training, guidance, and mentoring on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of alcohol use disorder.

Clinical experts from the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) created the Substance Use Disorder 101 Core Curriculum for Healthcare Professionals. With the addition of two new module topics, the 23 modules in this 2023 curriculum provide an overview of evidence-based practices in the prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions for a variety of populations.

The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Cohort I tip sheet is a result of collaborative efforts of the NAS Cohort I grant recipients. Drawing on the insights and experiences of our grantees, we identified 9 key recommendations. These tips serve not only as a guiding framework for future NAS cohort grantees but also offers valuable guidance to all RCORP grant cohorts. The University of Rochester Recovery Center of Excellence, one of three FORHP-supported Rural Centers of Excellence on Substance Use Disorder, has developed comprehensive training on the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) in primary care. This no-cost training prepares providers and staff to deliver evidence-based care to patients. Continuing education credits are available.
