The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), in the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, released Data on Maternal Health and Pregnancy Outcomes from Prisons and Jails: Results from a Feasibility Study. The study examined the availability and quality of data, the respondent burden, and the challenges of collecting data on the health and health care of pregnant women in custody at the federal, state, local and tribal levels. BJS will use the findings of this study to help determine the best strategies for implementing national data collections in correctional settings.

Two reports are now available from Fors Marsh, a research and communications firm who's reports work to highlight system problems like SUD. The "Road Map for Advancing a Recovery-Ready Nation" report examines recovery research and covers issues such as support services, housing, employment, workforce, stigma, etc. The "2022 Workplace Recovery Survey Report" covers background and understanding recovery in the workplace, policies, culture, experiences, and much more.

This report provides information on the results of the Cherokee Nation Health Services' (CNHS) hepatitis C elimination program 5 years after implementation. The report finds that the program had success with 99% of patients who completed treatment.

A new report from the Addiction and Public Policy Initiative of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law Center discusses how these multiple systems are often disjointed which creates barriers for those needing to access services for SUD.

Public Health Institute's (PHI) Cherished Futures for Black Moms and Babies Program is such an important program and example. Racism and toxic stress are root causes for racial disparities in birth outcomes. PHI’s Cherished Futures for Black Moms and Babies is centering the lived experiences of Black women and birthing parents to address this ongoing maternal mortality crisis, bringing together decision-makers from local hospitals, public health departments, health plans and Black women community leaders to identify and put into action systems-change solutions at clinical, institutional and community levels.
