The Alcohol-Related Disease Impact (ARDI) is an online application from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that provides national and state estimates of alcohol-related health impacts, including deaths and years of potential life lost (YPLL).

The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Cohort I tip sheet is a result of collaborative efforts of the NAS Cohort I grant recipients. Drawing on the insights and experiences of our grantees, we identified 9 key recommendations. These tips serve not only as a guiding framework for future NAS cohort grantees but also offers valuable guidance to all RCORP grant cohorts. This resource aims to enhance effectiveness and increase the impact of all RCORP grantee initiatives.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released results of the 2022 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). The NSDUH provides information on substance use and mental health rates in the United States with data on the self-reported use of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs; substance use disorders; mental health conditions; and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. SAMSHA also released a high-level brief of the report with infographics.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health have joined with two philanthropic organizations with experience in minority communities – Well-being and Equity (WE) in the World and Well Being In the Nation (WIN) Network – to collaborate on guidelines for what it will take to bring health equity to rural areas.

The FY22 RCORP-Implementation cohort is diverse and dynamic in every way, representing a wide variety of experience and possessing an unending amount of knowledge on SUD in rural areas. This session explored the different methods and practices this cohort uses in its efforts to address SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery. Participants had an opportunity to learn from and to build relationships with one another, which will, in turn strengthen, their RCORP projects. Additionally, they heard from RCORP program staff and the RCORP-Evaluation team about program updates and data utilization tools.

During this session, the Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) RCORP-Implementation grantees had an opportunity to share best practices, identify the impact that the RCORP grant had in their communities, learned how to use the data collected in the data dashboard, and network with other grantees. In addition, grantees received important information pertaining to evaluation, upcoming deliverables, sustainability and next steps.

In this session, we described how we used RCORP-Planning and RCORP-Implementation funds to plan, establish, and grow integrated harm reduction and recovery services in one space, the Fayette County Connection Café. Certified peer recovery coaches facilitated and staff Connection Café services, including peer support mutual aid groups, syringe services programming, street outreach, harm reduction vending machine, and 24-hour access to Naloxone.

Given the smaller size of our cohort, our goal was to create an opportunity for personal interactions, in-person peer-to-peer discussion, and facilitated peer-to-peer learning.
