This article discusses strategies to recruit primary care providers who will implement a medication for opioid use disorder integrated care model. The Pennsylvania Project, Project RAMP, was guided by a framework highlighting design, recruitment, pre-implementation, and implementation processes. The study covers the implementation sites that were recruited, the planning and implementation activities, and evaluation of the processes.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. This month offers a time to raise awareness and understanding of alcohol use and misuse. Resources and support is available for individuals struggling with alcohol use. In addition, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides a social media toolkit for communities to utilize.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, combined with counseling, to treat substance use disorders. Research has proven the effectiveness of MAT and addiction treatment experts endorse it, but a variety of barriers have prevented the widespread use of MAT. These include a lack of financing for medication, insufficient organizational infrastructure to deliver medication, state and county funding and regulatory obstacles, physician training and certification, staff and client resistance, and community attitudes.

The opioid epidemic is the result of a complex system of varied and interrelated factors. This webinar introduced a systems thinking approach and tools to address such complex public health challenges. The Georgia Health Policy Center’s Opioid Systems Map was presented as a case study for the creation and application of systems mapping in local communities. The webinar fostered a holistic view of the opioid epidemic and described opportunities to further develop systems thinking capacity for application to grantees’ local opioid response.

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a public health crisis affecting women, men, children, and society.1 Women with OUD have unique care needs and require a broad range of medical, behavioral health, and social services to meet these needs. Care coordination is important to manage the array of services that might be delivered to women in different settings. Without care coordination, women with OUD might struggle to access the services they need to get treatment and maintain recovery.
