Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) created this directory based on information obtained from state certification boards for alcohol and substance use professionals, state mental health and substance use disorder authorities, sources identified by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC), local and statewide recovery community organizations, and the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 removed the federal requirement for providers to have an X-waiver to prescribe medications for the treatment of OUD. The act amended the Controlled Substances Act. Depending on state law, practitioners who have a current DEA registration with Schedule III authority will be able to prescribe buprenorphine for OUD starting now.
