The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) want greater awareness of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and their connection to high rates of overdose and suicide. This week they announced a new training webpage, UrgentRelatedPreventable.org, designed in collaboration with the American Public Health Association to provide background and talking points. The site explains how exposure to certain events and conditions in childhood have lasting effects on health, well-being, and prosperity far into adulthood. See Funding section below for a CDC effort to research the links between ACEs and substance use.

HRSA and JBS have developed guidance to assist your RCORP data collection and Performance Improvement Measurement System (PIMS) reporting efforts. These measures are pending OMB clearance and are subject to revision. This page contains the RCORP data collection resources for the Psychostimulant Support grantees only.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has new resources available when supporting pregnant and parenting people with substance use disorders. Each resource supplements the SAMHSA Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Opioid Use Disorder and Their Infants publication.

The purpose of this document is to provide detailed guidelines of the Nurse Care Manager Model of Office Based Addiction Treatment program for management of substance use disorders, with particular emphasis on treatment of opioid use disorder with buprenorphine (alone and in combination with naloxone) and naltrexone (oral and extended-release injectable formulations).

The Disparities Impact Statement (DIS) template is a deliverable for this project that you will be required to complete. There was a webinar discussing the DIS for all relevant cohorts on November 15, 2022. This webinar provided RCORP grantees with the tools to complete a disparities impact statement, to support efforts to address populations in rural communities that have historically suffered from poorer health outcomes and health inequities as a part of the prevention, treatment, and recovery of SUD/OUD. We strongly encourage you to review these documents or listen to the recording when it is posted to the RCORP- TA portal at a later date. There are multiple systems that can help individuals to address substance use disorder (SUD). A new report from the Addiction and Public Policy Initiative of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law Center discusses how these multiple systems are often disjointed which creates barriers for those needing to access services for SUD.

The Housing Assistance Council's new Rural Resource Guide: Affordable Housing and Recovery in Rural Communities is an effort towards assisting local rural organizations with proper resources. While many across the U.S. are facing substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid misuse, housing is essential to addressing the epidemic. The guide is meant as a resource to housing practitioners looking to help provide homes to individuals affected by SUD.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP), and Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) has provided a curated resource list for corrections officers and other jail staff members manage the well-being of individuals in jail custody who have SUD. The categories of resources were prioritized by participants in a jail practitioner roundtable on opioid-related training needs convened by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
