This webinar will introduce attendees to the infrastructure, implementation, impact and adaptation of Regrounding. Our Response, a statewide effort to address stigma through collective impact underway in Maryland and being adapted in West Virginia. Structured around 5 curriculum areas, each addressing a persistent myth instrumental in upholding stigma related SUD/OUD, the content is delivered within the state at no cost by one of the 25 master presenters trained from across regions and sectors—a process being captured by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers, who are producing a toolkit that is forthcoming.

Presenters explained the role of RH in the continuum of care in this exciting and interactive presentation on emerging topics related to integrating social and medical models of recovery. They focused on emerging issues in rural America resulting from the pandemic, its impact on the rates of substance use disorder (SUD), and use of RH. Presenters emphasized funding for the development of RH, the role of partnerships within the recovery ecosystem, and promising practices involving cross-sector collaboration in housing, corrections, treatment, and recovery supports.

State policymakers are interested in learning about the most effective treatments to address OUD and avoid unintended consequences such as overdose events, mortality from overdose, and use of illicit and unregulated drugs. In the context of the trends in Oregon SUD metrics and the increasing infectious complications related to IDU in other jurisdictions and their implications for HIV and HCV transmission, we sought to 1) describe statewide trends in IDU-related serious bacterial infections (SBI) hospitalizations overall and by SBI type and drug use diagnosis, 2) assess IDU-related SBI diagnoses among individuals living with HIV and HCV, and 3) and determine the annual costs of IDU-related SBI overall and by SBI type.
