Corrections-Based Responses to the Opioid Epidemic: Lessons from New York State’s Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Program focuses on the efforts of NYS to implement an overdose education and naloxone distribution program that teaches all soon-to-be released people in state correctional facilities—as well as their families and corrections staff—about the risks of opioid use, trains them in the use of naloxone, and offers it to them free of charge at release.

The Townhall TeleECHO presentation will introduce a monthly interactive opportunity for clinicians and their support staff to address challenges and share solutions and successes to gain confidence in addressing OUD with MOUD. The Behavioral Health Data Learning Collaborative presentation will introduce goals of understanding data and data sharing, use of indicators and data sources, and data driven programming and quality improvement. Returning to your community with a criminal record can be a difficult task due to the collateral consequence of incarceration that limits access to employment, housing, healthcare, and education.
Your First 48 Toolkit promotes social and economic independence through relationship building, strong community involvement, education and public support. The Toolkit will help you foresee barriers to a successful reentry and identify likely solutions by informing you of who to connect with and what questions to ask.
