Provisional Drug Overdose Death Counts

The data visualization in the National Vital Statistics System, received and processed by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), shows the 12 month provisional number and percent change of drug overdose deaths. The analysis dashboard also shows the provisional number of drug overdose deaths by drug or drug class. All 50 states and the District of Columbia are included in the data, but may not include all deaths that occurred due to pending investigations. The NCHS utilized several data quality metrics. The provisional data presented will be updated on a monthly basis.
