Improving Behavioral Healthcare Access for Pediatric and Perinatal Populations: Working Collectively to Accelerate Change Webinar Materials

Description: 

With a shortage of psychiatrists in rural areas, many primary care providers and families have limited access to behavioral health resources and support. The Health Resource and Services Administration’s (HRSA) behavioral healthcare access programs offer providers a psychiatric teleconsultation line to assist in screening and treating pediatric and perinatal patients. This session provided an overview of the Pediatric Mental Health Care Access and Screening and Treatment for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder programs, including technical assistance (TA) opportunities and resources. The webinar also included a listening session for participants to provide input on opportunities for collaboration to improve behavioral healthcare access programs. 

Learning Objectives: 

After attending this session, participants were be able to: 

  • Described the pediatric and perinatal behavioral healthcare access programs 
  • Listed TA resources and activities available to pediatric and perinatal providers in rural and underserved communities 
  • Identified opportunities for Rural Communities Opioid Response Program grantees to partner with behavioral healthcare access programs to improve early identification and treatment for pediatric and perinatal populations.
