Building Resiliency Through Connection: A Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy Perspective Webinar Materials
This webinar was presented to RCORP grantees as part of the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC) Webinar Series.
GHPC's Center of Excellence for Children’s Behavioral Health presented a webinar and panel discussion titled Building Resiliency Through Connection: A Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy Perspective.
Connection is a vital part of promoting mental health well-being for youth, adolescents, and adults. Isolation can lead to detrimental outcomes for individuals, including increased risk of early death, reduced functioning, and increased physical and mental health risks. Over the past few years, youth and adolescents have experienced an increased rate of isolation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) provides a means of identifying the challenges that reinforce isolation and provides strategies for promoting and sustaining healthy connection in the lives of individuals served. In this workshop, participants learn how to recognize warning signs of isolation, identify underlying beliefs that reinforce isolation, and learn strategies to promote healthy connection.
In this webinar, RCORP grantees will be able to:
- Identify the importance of connection on mental health stability
- Name at least two methods for promoting connection with individuals served using the CT-R protocol
- Discuss underlying challenges that reinforce isolation and identify at least one strategy to target those challenges
- Identify at least one strategy for assisting individuals served in fostering connection and building healthy relationships outside of the treatment setting
