Oswego County Opportunities, Inc.
Project Summary
The goal of this initiative is to reduce the morbidity and mortality of SUD/OUD, particularly related to psychostimulant misuse in high-risk rural communities by strengthening and expanding prevention, treatment and recovery services. OCO will work closely with the other members of the Oswego County Opioid Response Consortium to complete the core activities in order to enhance individuals’ ability to access prevention, treatment, and recovery services. The Oswego County Opioid Response Consortium was formed as part of the RCORP Planning III grant and membership has grown to include a diverse group of stakeholders dedicated to improving the health of Oswego County residents. Strategies for these improvements include a social media marketing campaign to reduce the stigma of SUD/OUD, increased naloxone training and distribution, implementing evidence based programing for youth age 18-24, educating the community and providers on SUD/OUD, increasing trainings for providers, increased screening for SUD/OUD, and a peer workforce marketing campaign.
