Hamot Health Foundation
Project Summary
Northwest Pennsylvania resources for strengthening prevention, treatment, recovery and support of individuals, particularly women and families impacted by a variety of substance use disorders, are being woven into a more comprehensive and cooperative system throughout rural Erie County, Crawford County and Venango County in Northwest Pennsylvania (NWPA) through our successful consortium work over the past three years. The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program Psychostimulant Support grant will help support education, training and treatment for individuals who misuse psychostimulants in NWPA, to reduce the impacts of Opioid Use Disorder, as well as other substance use disorders, on women and families in NWPA. This project will expand on the lessons our key consortium members have learned as well as build upon existing infrastructure for a successful deployment of activities accelerating a focus on individuals and families impacted by psychostimulant use. Our experienced consortium will focus on core prevention strategies, broad-based education and training throughout the rural area, treatment and recovery, discharge coordination and peer support. The overarching goal is the prevention and reduction of psychostimulant misuse through evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery strategies targeted to behavioral health professionals, and the community at large. We will implement these initiatives with our rural community and the members of our consortium.
