Munson Healthcare Grayling
Project Summary
The purpose of this project is to increase the number of MAT access points in the rural service area thus expanding access to qualified healthcare providers for substance use disorder and behavioral health services, enhance the MAT workforce through recruitment, training and developing peer mentoring programs, build community capacity to support more effective and efficient MAT services, and ensuring program sustainability. MAT treatment will be provided through existing Rural Health Clinics (RHC) who will provide new SUD services utilizing the Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) model. The 23 Northern Michigan rural counties included in this project have limited, if any treatment options for substance use disorders. SUD treatment options are lacking in these rural areas due to limited resources for prevention, treatment and recovery and long distances to providers. The goal for this project is to provide new medication assisted treatment options to improve access to and treatment for substance use disorders.
