Project Summary

The Medications for Opioid Use and Treatment of Addiction in Northeast Georgia (MOUnTAiN) project will provide a comprehensive approach to reducing the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD), in three HRSA- designated rural counties in Northeast Georgia (Habersham, Rabun, and White). Augusta University (AU) will work to open two new medication-assisted treatment (MAT) access points through partnerships with the primary healthcare providers in these three counties including MedLink Georgia. In addition, we will improve access to treatment and recovery-oriented services in these counties through a partnership with Georgia Council on Recovery and through a steering committee comprised of these partners and other community resources including representatives from hospitals, the criminal justice system (sheriff's departments, drug courts, district attorney's offices), community service boards, and other local nonprofits.
