Project Summary

The South-Central Iowa Opioid Response Coalition was formed to assess opioid use and addiction in the four-county region to better determine prevention and treatment options to serve the residents of the area. The consortium is looking specifically at strategies to increase access to substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services and reduce the number of opioids prescribed in the targeted rural population. Plans include developing an inventory of current services and working to identify opportunities and gaps in this specific targeted service area. Along with determining barriers to treatment options, the consortium is hoping to gain awareness of resources, preferred treatment options, and methods of prevention.
