Project Summary
The Kendall and Kerr Counties’ Opioid Response (KOR) Consortium through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Implementation (RCORP-I) grant will implement a five-point strategy of services to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with substance misuse, substance use disorder (SUD) including opioid use disorder (OUD), and overdose affecting the rural communities of Kendall County and Kerr County, Texas. KOR’s strategies include: substance misuse prevention services, SUD/OUD treatment workforce capacity building, SUD/OUD recovery and support services, strengthening local data collection, analysis, sharing networks for informed behavioral health work, and infusing sustainability processes to and partnerships to maintain services beyond the life of the award. KOR Consortium aims to improve behavioral health care by: Promoting/increasing access to care Supporting new/enhanced evidence-based prevention, treatment, recovery strategies, broadening and diversifying the ways individuals can learn about and access services, strengthening healthcare and other stakeholders capacity with training and system resources, improving knowledge, attitudes, and skills among lay community members. 1.
