NYE Communities Coalition
Project Summary
The “Formidable Fourteen”, the rural frontier Nevada counties that make up much of the landmass of Nevada, have formed a consortium to address opioid use disorder and substance use disorder (OUD/SUD).This project binds the rural counties and their OUD/SUD efforts together within counties, regions, and across the state. It creates the venue for OUD/SUD efforts to be shared, taught, and joined. Although the consortium has determined Formidable Fourteen as the name to best represent the rural Nevada Counties on this project, the term “the last mile” could also describe this project. This project will bring more community based coalitions, county health services, rural hospitals and public health into the consortium. This will create a comprehensive collaboration that covers all of the rural counties of Nevada. The community based coalitions will bring their history of building collaboration, prevention knowledge, and local, regional, and statewide connections to the consortium. The County health services will bring their governmental resources, access to funding, and stability to the consortium. The rural hospitals and public health will bring connections to those most in need, expertise, and connections to urban counterparts. The consortium process will allow for statewide rural impact, momentum, and a wealth of knowledge.
