The Memorial Hospital
Project Summary
The entirely rural service area includes Moffat, Routt, Rio Blanco, Grand and Jackson Counties in northwest Colorado. Though nearly 80% of the population identifies as non-Hispanic white, 16.4% of the population identifies as Hispanic. Our Hispanic youth population lives with over three times the prevalence of illicit prescription drug use than their white counterparts, with over 13% having consumed prescription opioids in the past 30 days (vs. 3.6% for local white youth). Furthermore, our service area includes numerous farming and mining communities and hospitality workers inherent to the ski industry. The Rural Alliance Addressing Substance Use Disorder – Colorado (RAS-Col) consortium’s target population includes individuals who are at risk for, have been diagnosed with, and/or are in treatment and/or recovery for opioid use disorder. While RAS-Col will serve all residents in our 5-county area, this project will target agricultural, mining, and hospitality workers, as well as the local Hispanic communities, as these populations suffer disproportionately from substance use disorder.
