Our project focuses on community-based education, youth prevention targeting high school students to intervene in the vicious cycle created by early-onset drug misuse, and a jail re-entry project called "First Day Forward (FDF)". FDF will target justice-involved members of our communities prior to release to provide peer support and resources to increase the likelihood of successful re-integration, i.e. IDs, social security cards, birth certificates, employment opportunities, housing resources, treatment connections, etc., and reduce the chances of recidivism and overdose. The project will also provide targeted training and education to primary care providers to increase access to MAT for the justice-involved population and increase the likelihood they are receiving evidence-based services that address their specific health needs.
