Servolution Health Services, Inc.
Project Summary
The Appalachian region where Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia intersect consists of three counties, Bell County, KY, Claiborne County, TN and Lee County, VA. All are designated as HPSA in primary care, mental and dental health; and are described as MUAs. The research data documented the absence of prevention, treatment or recovery services; as well as few mental health or MAT (or MOUD) providers. Through the RCORP Implementation grant, Appalachian Care Consortium (ACC) members are committed to innovative approaches to reduce OUD stigma emphasizing the physiological and environmental factors which impact the existence of OUD, addressing the 17 Core Activities. ACC is sensitive to the social determinants of health, including the onset of Covid-19. Social distancing measures have created barriers to traveling for treatment. We will engage health professional students and practitioners in education and MAT training regarding OUD; recruit addiction professionals; activate initiatives in faith based, school districts, parental and health systems; and support local government and private initiatives to establish services. ACC will focus on all populations, including grandparents raising children; NAS children; families of domestic violence.
