Project Summary

Bailey-Warren NOVEL will focus its prevention efforts on increasing community knowledge and awareness of OUD and the dangers of stigma, with particular focus on the faith-based communities; expanding naloxone distribution and training; increasing awareness and the number of drug take-back sites and drug disposal kits; expanding current school-based and community-based programs; and implementing an SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) training initiative. Treatment efforts will focus on increasing screening individuals with SUD/OUD and infectious complications; training on OUD interventions, including Medication Assisted Treatment; training on optimizing treatment reimbursement; and expanding telehealth services. Recovery will focus on engagement with peer support specialists and recovery coaches, including launching a peer support program within law enforcement and expanding recovery programming. Through this work, Bailey-Warren NOVEL will continue to enhance its infrastructure to implement policy, systems, and environmental changes for long-lasting impact in the fight against opioid misuse.
