Indiana State Department of Health
Project Summary
The mission and vision of the MIH Program is to prevent overdoses, incidents, emergency department visits, hospital admissions and readmissions through effective and efficient patient-centered care and education; transform a community impacted by the opioid epidemic into a community where overdose calls are the exception rather than the norm by ensuring every individual has unencumbered access to the resources needed, including compassionate care and emotional support for successful recovery. The consortium of the MIH program was initiated and planned by Crawfordsville EMS Chief, Raymond (Paul) Miller, who created a program to integrate medical, legal, and treatment resources with the fire department (now known as the Quick Response Team) being the bridge to those suffering from SUD/OUD and their family members. MIH (partnership of the consortium members) has been in place since August 2018. The goal of this project is to increase the capacity of the existing Quick Response Team (QRT) and the consortium members, incorporated together as the Montgomery County Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program. (MIH). Through the coordinated efforts of the multi-sector consortium of MIH all three RCORP focus areas—prevention, treatment, and recovery are in place. This funding will increase the capacity of providing these integrated services from Monday through Friday’s normal business hours to a 24/7 program.
